  1. Professor name: Virginia Huynh
  2. Course name: CADV 150
  3. What were your main motivations to participate in AL$?
    • Save students money
    • Opportunity to receive stipend
  4. Previous cost of course materials, per student: $56
  5. Course savings, per student: $56
  6. Number of students in class:  120
  7. What's your students' and your experience adopting affordable materials?
    • It was great to eliminate the potential barrier of students unable to access a textbook because of cost or financial aid issues.
    • A few students said they wished the textbook went in depth about some of the things I cover in my videos which I believed was part of an important learning objective.
    • I had to recreate a lot of slides and videos because the chapter content did not correspond with my previous text. i also had to create new test questions/quizzes to make sure it corresponded with the chapter. The free textbook did not have a test bank or sample assignments or PowerPoints to work off of. I had to learn (and then teach) students how to cite OER textbooks.
