CHS 365: Third World Women and the Chicana

Comparison of Chicana and Third World women in the U.S. and the world community. Effects of colonialism, changes in the mode of production and liberation movements are studied within the U.S. and the Third World communities.

Acceptable Sources

Annotated Bibliography (MLA format)—4 pages at least

  • You should analyze the content of at least 7 to 8 academic sources on your topic.
  • Your academic sources can include primary and secondary sources. This includes books, journals/articles, documentaries/films,  newspapers, etc. This means you will need to do some library research and use the University Library databases. If you need help with the databases, please schedule a research consultation with me (nery.alcivar-estrella@csun.edu).
    • As for the documentary or film option, the video should be at least 50 minutes.
    • You are allowed to use ONE documentary or film. This should be academic in nature. Please ask Professor for approval.
    • YouTube news clips will not be accepted as academic sources.
  • You can use class material as supplemental sources, but they will not count toward your 7 to 8 outside sources.
  • Internet sources through the surface web, such as Wikipedia, are not acceptable!
    • If you are unsure of your source, please double check with a librarian or your professor before submitting your final project.
