Special Collections and Archives

Request Materials in OneSearch

If you want to use an item you find in OneSearch that's in Special Collections & Archives, you can request it in advance. When we receive your request, we will put it on hold for you. Most requests are filled within two business days, though some take as many as five.

1. Go to OneSearch & Click "Sign in"

Click on "Sign in" in the top right corner of OneSearch.

2. Choose Account Type & Sign in

Students, staff, and faculty should choose "Student and employee login," while researchers who are not affiliated with CSUN should choose "Guest login." Enter your barcode and password to sign in.

3. Find the item(s) you want to see

Search OneSearch for the item or items you want to view during your visit to Special Collections & Archives. Refer to the Finding Books in SC/A or Finding Archives in SC/A portion of this guide for more information if you have any questions.

4. Click "Request"

After you've logged in, OneSearch records will include a "Request" link in the "In the Library" section of the page.

5. Complete Request Form

After clicking on the "Request" link, a form will pop up. Fill in the date after which you no longer need the item, and click the "Request" button.

6. Check Request Status in MY LIBRARY ACCOUNT

While you're waiting for the item, you can check MY LIBRARY ACCOUNT while signed in to OneSearch to see the request's status. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

7. Receive Email Notification that Item is Available

When the item is available, you'll get an email letting you know you can come to Special Collections and Archives to use it.
