CADV 452: Child Advocacy

Funding

Nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status are required to disclose their financial information by filing a 990 with the IRS and making it publicly available. Most child welfare organizations will include this information on the About Us section of their website. If they do not, you can usually find the organization's 990 by Googling both the organization name and 990, or by searching an online database such as Propublica's

Here is the first page of a filed 990. Included on the first page are the year the company formed, the number of employees and volunteers, and sources of revenue. Other information within the document includes chief executives and salary information for the top paid employees as well as itemized reports of revenue and expenses.
