eBooks

This guide is intended for students, faculty, and staff to use ebooks in the course of their studies and research. It will include practical tips about finding, using, and citing ebooks as well as accessibility considerations.

eBooks can be viewed online in the eBook Viewer by clicking the tile of the book in the result list.

Above the eBook are Viewer tools:

  1. Add the eBook to your folder.
  2. Save eBook pages.
  3. email eBook pages.
  4. Grab a citation.
  5. Search for definitions of words.
  6. Export citation information to a bibliographic manager.
  7. Grab a link to the eBook.
  8. Share the eBook information on a social network.
  9. Download the eBook to your computer for offline reading or transferring to a portable device.
Accessibility

Information for visually-impaired users

  • Most full book downloads require Adobe Digital Editions reader. Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) can be used with Voiceover, NVDA, and JAWS, and offers other accessibility features such as high contrast mode and full keyboard support. 
  • The online book viewer for EBSCO eBooks allows users to Zoom content beyond 200%. 

 

Information for users who rely on the keyboard

EBSCO eBooks contains a Skip to Main Content link at the top of the ebook viewer page, which allows keyboard users to skip redundant navigation links. To access this, use the tab key from the top of the page. The Skip to Main Content link will come into view. Activating this link sends focus to the ebook viewer region, where a keyboard user can scroll content with the down arrows or easily reach the page navigation tools with the tab key.

Information for Deaf Users

  • EBSCO eBooks does not contain audio or video content so deaf users have access to the full range of content included in any EBSCO eBook
Other features

Download and Print

Depending on publisher-specified limits, sometimes up to 100 pages of an EBSCO ebook can be printed, saved or emailed as a PDF file (per user) from within the eBook viewer to be printed at a later time. To download PDFs of an ebook, click the "Full Download" button at the top right corner.

Cite

Like most ebook platforms, eBook Collection (EBSCO) allows you to create citations when you are viewing an ebook on their websites. This is often a quick and easy way to create citations. However, you should be aware that the available citation styles will be limited.
